Eagle Project Research

Clay, Chris and I came up twice in May.  Chris was so worn out with end of year activities and deadlines that he slept most of the time. In this picture, he's scouting out where he'd like to do his eagle project.

Finally, most of the trees have leaves and a few wildflowers are starting to bloom.  We got the new deck furniture set up as well as the porch swing and Traeger grill.  Last night we made pizza on the grill which came out pretty good and today we made a pot roast that took forever and wasn't very good. After church we took a little drive around the neighborhood and saw a moose at Bench Lake. Chris drove.  One sad thing that happened is that we think the owner of the beaver pond at the end of Blue Spruce removed or killed the beaver.  So sad! How we loved watching him!  He was there in April when we brought Dad up.  Why would anyone want to hurt a beaver?  Someone on Facebook says he wants to put a road through the pond a build a reception center.  Stupid!

Dad and Les!

In the beginning of April, Dad and Les came up to the cabin for the the day.  We took them on a freezing trip around the neighborhood on the Razor and had sloppy joes for lunch.

Birthday fun with Kris

Kris Mansfield came up to the cabin with me for the day on March 13 for a belated birthday celebration.  Chris was suffering from a migraine so he came up with us. I didn't feel comfortable leaving him home alone!
We had fun eating lunch, visiting and going for a walk with Nala.  It was a beautiful day!

Cheslea's day as an only child

Chelsea and I came up the day after my birthday for a little R and R.  The night we got up here, there was a light blinking on the message machine.  It was the Summit county sheriff's office warning that there were criminals on the loose and that we shouldn't open the door to strangers.  Scary!  But Nala and Georgie protected us.  Plus there was a BB gun in the garage.  Clay came up Thursday morning and played in the snow with us.  It was snowing pretty hard so the snowmobile trip was cut short. but it was still a great day.

Fun in Snow

The snow was amazing up here this weekend!  Down in the valley it's rainy and mucky.  We came up Saturday afternoon, went to church up here yesterday, and are having fun playing in the snow today.

This weekend we had Chris's teacher's quorum up.  They made pizzas from scratch, watched movies and had a great day of snowmobiling.

The Finished Project

Is a project ever really finished?  The basement is basically, except maybe framing the bathroom mirror, installing drawers in the vanity, and hanging a few pictures. Now I'd like to get my hands on the the upstairs and change out the floors and countertops.  All in good time!
